On Sunday I went to the JFK museum, which I had never been to. I don't know how that happened either. There was a movie of his speech that was used in Hidden Figures as well.
"We choose to go to the moon," the president said. "We choose to go to the moon in this decade and do the other things, not because they are easy, but because they are hard, because that goal will serve to organize and measure the best of our energies and skills, because that challenge is one that we are willing to accept, one we are unwilling to postpone, and one which we intend to win, and the others, too."
In the movie Kevin Costner is speaking to Congress and says:
"Whoever gets there first makes the rules. That's been true for every civilization." We have to touch the stars if only to ensure our own survival.
We aren't at STEM because it's easy. We are here because it's hard and we were all ready for a change/challenge. We are making the rules for our school to reach for the stars. We are the trailblazers in a new possible era of GISD - school of choice. We are here first. I know it's been a whirlwind but we are better in many ways for it. We have surely not arrived but we are finding our way. Keep experiencing "firsts" both inside and outside of our walls no matter how great or small. What we do every day matters but most of all YOU MATTER!! Choose joy this week. We all have many things to be thankful for. Make your list of 10 things you are grateful for and keep it close. When you feel tired and restless or getting in a bad mood, take it out and read it. It is proven that you can't be negative and grateful at the same time. There are many things that I am thankful for in my live and these would probably be my top 10. This year has been hard and even though I don’t really know what sleep is right now, I love it! Between starting the STEM School, my last class in Grad School, and the Military I am on fumes right now. Our school is amazing and to think that we were the first ones to start it and have the pleasure of getting these kiddos to the places that they need to be in life to become great citizens! That’s amazing! That’s why I am here!

DeleteI am thankful for many things! My list could go on and on. This is my most favorite time of year. Yet, it in ways it is the hardest time of a year for me personally. I will just leave at that. Know that I have a personal list of things that I am very thankful for; however, I would like to hold that list personal and for my quiet time. Just know that the Stem school, Stem family, and Stem students are on my list. I love you all!

DeleteAs everyone else has said, there are so many things I am thankful for! I am so incredibly thankful for my sweet husband, loving family and friends, and that I get to work at a school I LOVE coming to everyday! Obviously there are many other things I am thankful for, those are just a few!

Jesus- Lord knows I need him everyday!!!
Family- I'm the happiest when I'm surrounded by the ones I love them most.
Friends- They make everyday better!
Health- So very thankful for this.
My job- I was nervous to take this step and leave a place I loved. But everyday I thank God for rescuing me from that place that is not like it was when I left it.
Second chances- I'll leave that one right there.

ReplyDelete1. My Heavenly Father who loves me so much he gave His only Son to die for me...His unconditional love and His never-ending grace and mercy...the avenue of prayer and His Holy Word.
2. My church family.
3. Being raised by Christian parents (who are both still in good health).
4.Being married to my best friend for 36 years.
5. Being blessed with 3 wonderful boys whom God is growing into fine Christian men, husbands and fathers.
6. Having my prayers answered for 3 precious Christian daughters-in-love who are wonderful wives for our sons and amazing mothers for our grandchildren.
7. Being blessed with 7 amazing, precious, wonderful, sweet (shall I go on?) grandchildren who bring such joy to our lives.

Twice within 6 years (at this very time of year)I have had significant health issues that have rocked me to my core and caused me to evaluate what is truly important, what I may have overlooked, and what I have needlessly stressed over. So my list starts with Him.
ReplyDelete1. I’m so thankful for a loving Heavenly Father, who rejoices with us in good times and holds us close and carries us through the times when life just doesn’t make sense.
2. I am sooo thankful for this amazing earth home and universe. To see His handiwork in the great and the small always fascinates me.
3. He has richly blessed me with family who hold each others’ hearts close.
4. Friends - my sisters from other mothers.
5. Our bodies and their ability to heal are nothing short of miraculous! I’m so thankful for how He heals and gifts others with the wisdom and skills to assist in His healing.
6. I am thankful when He moves mountains and when He gives me the strength and courage to traverse mountains.
7. I feel so blessed to be given the opportunity to teach and that He placed me at KJG this year. I have shared with all who ask me how I absolutely LOVE everyone and everything about our amazing school!
8. Laughter- the best medicine. I’m so thankful for those who find the humor in life and for those who make a living making others laugh! (Big Bang was my nightly laughter fix during cancer treatments. Seriously, I could be crying in pain, and Sheldon would say something that would make me burst out laughing!🤣)
